State Certification Requirements for Teachers of Latin

Tennessee

Certification Terminology:

Initial License with an Endorsement in Latin

Grade Level of Certification:

PreK-12

7-12

Degree Requirement:

B.A.

Subject Matter Requirements:

Latin major equivalent

Professional Training in Education Required:

Yes

Subject Test:

Praxis II, Latin

Additional Requirements for Advanced Certification:

1. Evaluation by a school administrator who has completed the Framework for Evaluation and Professional Growth training.

2. Current employment teaching Latin for a minimum of 5 months.

3. A valid Apprentice Teacher License.

4. Three (3) years of verified teaching experience.
