State Certification Requirements for Teachers of Latin

North Carolina

Certification Terminology:

Standard Professional 1 (SP1) License (for new teachers)

Standard Professional 2 (SP2) License (for teachers with experience)

Both with “Highly Qualified” status in Latin

Grade Level of Certification:

K-12

Degree Requirement:

B.A.

Subject Matter Requirements:

Latin major equivalent

Professional Training in Education Required:

Yes

Subject Test:

Praxis II: Latin. Praxis I must also be taken.

 

Additional Requirements for Advanced Certification:

1. Three (3) years of documented teaching experience.
