State Certification Requirements for Teachers of Latin

Grade Level of Certification:

7-12

Degree Requirement:

B.A. minimum

Subject Matter Requirements:

39 hours: 6 basic Latin, 24 additional; 9 related field

Professional Training in Education Required:

Yes

Subject Test:

Praxis II

Additional Requirements for Advanced Certification:

1. 10 months of successful appropriate teaching experience under the initial educator certificate and completion of the Beginning Educator Support and Training (BEST) program.

OR

2. 30 months of successful appropriate teaching experience within ten (10) years and completion of any additional course requirements, as prescribed by the Connecticut certification regulations, for the endorsement requested.

3. Continuation requires completion of nine continuing education units (CEUs).
